The Elephant Sanctuary

Located in Hohenwald, The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee is the nation’s largest natural habitat refuge developed specifically for African and Asian elephants. Established in 1995, the sanctuary spans over 2,700 acres and provides a haven for elephants retired from performance and exhibition. The sanctuary is not a zoo; instead, it focuses on providing a natural and expansive environment for the elephants to roam, bathe, and forage. Their mission is to provide captive elephants with individualized care, the companionship of a herd, and the opportunity to thrive in a spacious environment.
